Duval County’s First Lagoon Community Welcomes Its First Homeowner

February 11th, 2026
Metro News - Duval County’s First Lagoon Community Welcomes Its First Homeowner

Duval County’s first lagoon community reached a significant milestone this week as the first homeowner moved into Diamond Springs, officially launching life inside the 2,700-home master-planned community on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The move-in represents a significant transition for the Metro Development Group community, located at Normandy Boulevard and Bright Lagoon Boulevard, as Diamond Springs evolves from active construction into a growing neighborhood.

“This milestone represents both a first for our company in Jacksonville and for Duval County,” said Lisa Gibbings, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Metro Development Group. “Welcoming our first homeowner is incredibly meaningful. It marks the start of a thoughtfully designed community centered around lifestyle, recreation, and long-term growth.”

At the heart of Diamond Springs will be Metro’s signature lagoon amenity, transforming everyday living into a resort-inspired experience. Planned features include kayaking, a floating obstacle course, a splash pad, and a swim-up bar — amenities more commonly found at vacation destinations than in residential neighborhoods.

The community will ultimately include single-family homes and townhomes built by DRB Homes, D.R. Horton, Dream Finders Homes, and Lennar. Residents will also have access to miles of multi-modal paths, solar streetlights, ULTRAFi high-speed internet, and up to 80% of the homes backing up to preserves or water.

As Jacksonville continues to experience steady population growth, Diamond Springs is expected to play an important role in expanding housing opportunities while contributing to economic development and infrastructure investment in West Jacksonville.

Construction and home sales will continue throughout 2026 as the community advances into its next phases. For more information about Diamond Springs, click here
