Brightwater Lagoon Officially Opens with Ribbon Cutting Luau in North Fort Myers

On the morning of May 30, Metro Development Group hosted a festive ribbon cutting and luau to celebrate the official opening of Brightwater Lagoon—now the newest resort-style destination in North Fort Myers and the southernmost lagoon community in Metro’s portfolio.
Local officials, builders, and community partners gathered to commemorate the opening of Lee County’s first man-made lagoon with tropical-themed entertainment and a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Surrounded by 6 acres of clear blue water, sandy beaches, and palm-lined lounging areas, Brightwater Lagoon offers a new standard for recreation, relaxation, and connection in Southwest Florida.
While the event itself was a private celebration, the Lagoon is now open to the public and offers a wide range of amenities including a swim-up bar, waterslide, splash pad, floating obstacle course, and kayak and paddleboard rentals. Guests can also enjoy rotating food trucks, VIP experiences at Cabana Cove, and ongoing programming for all ages.
Brightwater marks the fourth completed lagoon by Metro Development Group in the state of Florida, continuing the company’s commitment to creating innovative, lifestyle-focused communities. With more lagoons in development and new regions on the horizon, Metro is proud to bring this revolutionary amenity to Lee County—and looks forward to continued growth as they expand their vision for connected, resort-style living across the state.
