Heat Relief: Benefits of Greenhouse Growing
At Angeline Farm, our greenhouse plays a vital role in helping seedlings grow during Florida’s intense summer heat. While greenhouses are often used to retain warmth in cooler climates, ours is carefully designed to stay cool. A white shade cloth helps block some of the sun’s harsh rays, and we keep the sides rolled up for consistent airflow. These adjustments help maintain a stable, nurturing environment even during peak heat and humidity.
To keep our crops hydrated and thriving, an automatic watering system runs several times a day, giving seedlings the steady moisture they need to flourish. This reliable setup allows us to keep planting fresh crops all summer long, even when other local farms slow down.
Say Hello: New Farmer Heather
We’re excited to introduce the newest member of our Angeline Farm team, Heather Teige! With a rich background exploring vegetables across diverse culinary worlds, Heather has found her true passion in organic farming—a place where nurturing both our bodies and the environment is a top priority. Her commitment to fostering resilient local economies aligns perfectly with the values we hold dear at Angeline. Heather is eager to deepen her understanding of Florida’s unique agricultural seasons and to share her expertise with our community.
Summer Harvest: Cool Crops, Fresh Flavor
As late summer heats up, we’re focusing on crops that thrive in extreme heat and humidity. While many local farms pause production this time of year, Angeline Farm remains committed to offering fresh produce.
You may notice some uncommon crops at our farm like long beans, Korean melons, and red okra. These unique summer varieties are full of flavor and worth a try! Our farmers harvest twice a week to keep the Farm Stand at Wild Thyme Café stocked daily with the freshest options.
Looking ahead to fall, cooler temperatures will bring back familiar favorites to the farm like salad mix, carrots, leafy greens, herbs, and flowers.
